Picnics are great.even potluck or Potlatch ceremonies if done thoughtfully and respectfully of the communities. Grad ceremonies place emphasis on a piece of paper. Does anyone know of links I could find ? We could generate our own letter,of course, but just thought it would be easier this way.Īnd also would anyone like to share what they do at the end of the school year? I have been looking for an appropriate letter to parents why we do what we do (and do not do graduations) but have been unable to find anything meaningful and succinct to hand to the parents this September. No one has spoken to the teachers about this, however. At summer camp this year, a few of the parents (who are turning 4 and will be going to Kindergarten in 2018), have contacted the director about wanting full blown graduation ceremony in June. We are not planning on doing this because we know it is not age appropriate, the children dislike being put on display, they are not little adults and there are other rituals we can do without jeopardizing the children's well being. There has been increased pressure on the teachers and the director to hold graduation ceremonies, with caps and gowns, etc. At the end of the school year, we usually sing a few good bye songs and pass out certificates before attending our school's family picnics. I usually teach in the pre-k class and most all of the children go to Kindergarten afterwards. I have been teaching for almost 30 years. I am a teacher at a developmental/play based preschool in So.
